SUMMARY:Basic seminar "Bio-composites - sustainable fiber composites"
DESCRIPTION:In the production of biocomposites\, a matrix material (plastic) is processed with fibers as a reinforcing material\, whereby at least one component must be obtained from a renewable resource by definition. This results in new sustainable materials that have exceptional mechanical properties and can be used in lightweight construction. Fibers made from flax\, hemp or jute are often used as reinforcing fibers\, which are increasingly competing with the predominant synthetic fibers due to their high specific properties.   \nBasically\, bio-based fiber composites can be processed using conventional manufacturing processes. However\, there are still some challenges to fully exploiting the potential of this fiber composite. Bio-composites are currently used in the automotive industry in particular\, for example for interior fittings or body parts. SUMMARY:Pultrusion 4.0: practical digitalization in the industry using the example of pultrusion
DESCRIPTION:Pultrusion – an automated manufacturing process for fibre-reinforced plastics – benefits particularly from digitalization. Digital technologies can be used to make all process steps more efficient\, from simulation and work preparation to system set-up and quality assurance.  \n\nIn work preparation\, digitalization enables more efficient production planning\, for example through digital tools for assembly planning\, material management and project coordination. This minimizes delays and optimizes the use of resources. \nSimulation and FEM (finite element method) are indispensable in pultrusion for the virtual design and testing of components and processes. This allows design decisions to be validated at an early stage\, material properties to be optimized and potential sources of error to be identified. \nWhen setting up the systems\, digital technology\, such as augmented reality or a digital twin of the pultrusion system\, helps to ensure the exact positioning of tools\, fibers and textile guides. SUMMARY:JEC Forum DACH 2026
DESCRIPTION:The JEC Forum DACH is organized by JEC in partnership with AVK and brings together the composites community from the DACH region (Germany\, Austria and Switzerland). The event takes place every year in different cities in the DACH region to promote the regional composites ecosystem and facilitate closer ties with local companies\, research and development centers and application industries.  \nAfter the first event in Frankfurt in 2021\, the Forum was held at Messe Augsburg in 2022 and in Salzburg in 2023\, while Stuttgart hosted the event in 2024. After the fifth edition in Dresden\, the event has now arrived in Cologne in 2026.
