Since around the early 2010s, the first applications in the composites sector have emerged, evolving from general 3D printing technology (which dates back to the 1980s). In additive manufacturing (3D printing), components are built up layer by layer directly from digital models. Particularly in the field of fiber-reinforced plastics, additive manufacturing enables a high degree of design freedom, functionally integrated lightweight structures, and cost-effective production of individual or small batches. As a result, it opens up new potential for resource-efficient and high-performance applications in mobility, aviation, and mechanical engineering.    <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Our working group meetings are held in cooperation with the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dgm.de\/\">DGM<\/a> \u2014the German Society for Materials Science.
