Are “digitalization & AI” just buzzwords or do they also offer real opportunities for the composites industry?<\/p>\n\n
The world of fiber-reinforced plastics is extremely heterogeneous, both in terms of the products manufactured and the materials and processes used for production. The size of the companies that manufacture composite components varies accordingly – however, many or most of the AVK member companies are medium-sized or often small or micro-enterprises. What they all have in common is that they are constantly looking to improve and optimize their production processes. On the one hand, this is due to economic pressure, especially in the current climate where many areas of industrial production have to fight for markets and customers. On the other hand, it is due to the entrepreneurial spirit of constantly becoming more efficient and better and being able to tap into new markets through technology. <\/p>\n\n
Digitalization and artificial intelligence generally promise progress in business processes, and this naturally also applies to the composites industry. The question is how – and above all at what (cost) expense – the existing technologies can be put to good use. <\/p>\n\n
The AVK is therefore explicitly addressing this topic in a separate working group together with interested member companies.<\/p>\n\n
