In the production of biocomposites, a matrix material (plastic) is processed with fibers as a reinforcing material, whereby at least one component must be obtained from a renewable resource by definition.\nThis results in new sustainable materials that have exceptional mechanical properties and can be used in lightweight construction.\nFibers made from flax, hemp or jute are often used as reinforcing fibers, which are increasingly competing with the predominant synthetic fibers due to their high specific properties.\nThe thermoplastic or thermoset matrix systems can also be partially or predominantly bio-based. <\/p>\n\n
