Euro-RTM-Group

RTM (Resin Transfer Molding) processes are a group of manufacturing technologies used to produce fiber-reinforced plastics. There are now many different process variants. Essentially, it is a closed-mold process that is characterized above all by an enormous range of possibilities. A wide variety of materials can be used, and the production of a wide range of components—from flat to complex and from small prototypes to large series-production parts—is possible.

In this process, a dry fiber preform is first placed into a mold and then infiltrated with a reactive resin using pressure or a vacuum. The component then cures inside the mold and is finally removed. The process enables the cost-effective production of complex component geometries with high dimensional accuracy and excellent surface quality on both sides of the component. The closed-mold technology reduces emissions and creates reproducible process conditions. RTM is particularly suitable for medium to large production runs and is used, among other things, in automotive engineering, aerospace, and mechanical and plant engineering. Key advantages include a high degree of automation, short cycle times, and the production of lightweight, high-strength structural components.

Our working group focuses primarily on marketing and seeks to raise awareness of the potential and benefits of this process technology in the market.
