History
The AVK is the oldest interest group in the plastics industry in Germany:
- 1924 – Foundation of the Technical Association e. V.
- 1959 – Foundation of the Arbeitsgemeinschaft Verstärkte Kunststoffe e. V.
- 1998 – Merger of the two organizations to form AVK-TV
- Since 2005, the company has been operating under the name AVK – Industrievereinigung Verstärkte Kunststoffe
Mission/assignment
AVK primarily pursues the following five objectives with its actions:
- Enhance the image of reinforced plastics on the market and in the public eye
- Promoting innovation
- Offer further training
- Highlighting the sustainability of materials & applications
- Expand networking more strongly

Membership structure
The AVK currently has over 230 member companies, making it one of the largest associations in the composites sector in Europe. It represents its members along the entire value chain in the field of reinforced plastics.
The list of members includes raw material producers and suppliers as well as processors, mechanical engineers, engineering offices, testing authorities and scientific institutes. The membership structure includes small and medium-sized companies as well as (multinational) corporations.
The AVK’s member companies are predominantly located throughout Germany and in neighboring European countries.
Organizational integration
AVK is integrated into a strong (partner) network within Germany and Europe:
- AVK is a founding member of Composites Germany .
- The AVK is one of the four sponsoring associations of the GKV (General Association of the Plastics Processing Industry) and is represented there both in the management and on the board.
- AVK is a member of the EuCIA (European umbrella organization of the composites industry) and is also represented on its board.
As an AVK member, you are entitled to vote in DIN and CEN committees.
