Sustainability is not only a key challenge for society as a whole—and a necessity—but also presents enormous opportunities, especially for composites. In many applications, they offer significant advantages over other construction materials in terms of life cycle assessment (LCA). Even though the recycling of end-of-life products is only the final step in a whole chain of measures and possibilities, this aspect is nonetheless of great importance. The goal must be to keep all materials in the recycling loop for as long as possible and, if necessary, to recycle them as profitably as possible.
Our working group focuses specifically on this topic. Together with our experts, we are working to identify existing options and compile information in order to provide the best possible overview of the opportunities already available today. One result of this collaboration, for example, is the AVK recycling study.
Composites are not only a very sustainable construction solution in many cases, there are also numerous recycling routes. Together, we are looking for new possibilities and pooling existing knowledge in order to make it available to as many stakeholders and interested parties as possible.
