Basic seminar – “Winding processes and pultrusion” – with practical part on pultrusion

In the production of glass fiber-reinforced plastics, a matrix material (plastic) is processed with suitable glass fibers as a reinforcing material. This results in high-strength materials that are used in a wide variety of industrial sectors.
The winding process and the pultrusion process allow the glass fiber to be inserted both in directions specifically specified by the designer and in a higher content. As a result, the thickness of the laminate and therefore its weight can be greatly reduced or a special load behavior of the finished parts can be set.
The winding processes have developed further in recent decades, both technologically and in terms of the raw material base, in order to ensure that the finished parts can be used in modern applications. The many technological developments in the pultrusion process have made it possible to further develop the initially thin round profiles into large-dimensioned profiles with complex geometries.
