The “Cellulose Fibres Conference 2025 – New with Biosynthetics” from March 12-13, 2025 in Cologne will present the latest developments and trends for the sustainable textile industry. Abstracts can be submitted as of now.
The established, annual “Cellulose Fibres Conference”, organized by the nova-Institute, is entering the next round with new topics for 2025 with an expanded focus.
The textile industry is constantly on the lookout for sustainable solutions, as these are urgently needed to achieve the EU climate targets. The fashion industry has a large carbon footprint (10% of total global emissions), which must be reduced in favor of the Green Deal targets. The disposal of textile waste and microplastic pollution from washing synthetic clothing (made from fossil fibers such as polyester) are two examples of areas that are particularly affected. A (renewed) shift towards sustainable solutions is required. The proportion of renewable fibers must be increased. How can this be achieved? By using non-fossil carbon obtained from biomass, CO₂ and recycling.
The nova-Institute, organizer of the conference, is responding to the growing demand for sustainable textile fibres and is therefore introducing the new topic area of biosynthetics with the first sessions in 2025. The technologies are constantly being developed further and there is great interest in this new subject area. The promising field of biosynthetics will be explored and discussed by leading experts at the conference.
