Chemical and physical recycling are crucial for implementing the Green Deal and the circular economy

Renewable Carbon Initiative (RCI)

Chemical and physical recycling play a key role in achieving the objectives of the Green Deal and promoting the circular economy. These technologies are indispensable for the green transition. In order to keep as much of the carbon contained in plastics in the cycle as possible, a wider range of different chemical and physical recycling processes are required. In this way, the required quantities and scalability of the circular economy can be achieved. Chemical and physical recycling enable the use of waste streams that cannot be mechanically recycled and are currently sent to incineration or landfill. This is the only way to ensure that these materials remain in a cycle and reduce dependence on disposal methods such as incineration and landfill.
