For many years, the European composites market in Europe grew continuously. Since the coronavirus crisis, this positive development has come to an end. The trend is pointing downwards and the overall market in Europe has recently fallen to the level of 2013. This development is particularly worrying in light of the fact that production volumes continue to grow worldwide. In contrast to the two other major processing regions of America and Asia, Europe is increasingly losing ground.

There are many reasons for this decline. Above all, however, there are weaknesses in the economy as a whole, especially in the two key sectors for the composites industry, automotive and construction/infrastructure.
