Pultruded profiles are increasingly being used in a variety of applications, including bridges and bridge decks, train platforms, stairs, fences, street furniture, facades, window frames, and utility poles. Their advantages are particularly evident in bridge construction: Pultruded bridge components are lighter than comparable structures made of steel or concrete, enabling faster, more resource-efficient installation with reduced foundation requirements. They are corrosion-resistant and last for decades with virtually no maintenance, which is a major advantage, especially in remote or hard-to-reach areas.

Pultrusion is a continuous manufacturing process for profiles. It is one of the oldest technologies for producing profiles made of fiber-reinforced plastics; it was invented in the 1950s and has been continuously refined ever since. The underlying manufacturing process is a continuous, automated procedure in which reinforcing fibers are impregnated with resin, drawn through a heated die, and cured. This results in high-quality profiles with consistently high quality and minimal waste. These can be produced in various colors, finishes, and shapes and recycled as needed.

The EPTA—the European Pultrusion Technology Association—was founded in 1989 by leading pultrusion manufacturers in Europe. It is an independent organization that has been managed by the AVK since 2006 and currently has more than 30 member companies.

Die EPTA bündelt die Interessen ihrer Mitglieder, organisiert u.a. gemeinsame Messeauftritte, erstellt Fachartikel und veranstaltet alle 2 Jahre die World Pultrusion Konferenz. Hier geht es zur EPTA Website:
