In a recent report, the European Composites Industry Association (EUCIA) highlights the untapped potential of recycling composites in Europe. Despite growing sustainability requirements, the recycling of composites is not yet being used to the necessary extent. The EUCIA is therefore calling on politicians, industry and research to work together to promote framework conditions and technologies to make recycling more economically and ecologically attractive.
The article emphasizes that new markets for recycled materials are emerging, for example in the construction and infrastructure sectors. At the same time, EUCIA is calling for standardized data, targeted investments and clearly defined regulatory requirements in order to secure Europe’s leading role in the sustainable use of composite materials.
