Renewable Materials Conference 2025 will take place from September 22-24, 2025 in Siegburg and online

Nova Institute

Registration with an early bird discount, the booking of exhibition stands and workshops, as well as the submission of abstracts and innovations for the “Renewable Material of the Year 2025” award are now open – and the first top-class speakers have already been confirmed.

In just a few years, the Renewable Materials Conference (RMC) has established itself as an international meeting place for innovators, companies and brands, investors and political decision-makers to develop and shape the future renewable carbon economy. As in previous years, conference organizer nova-Institut expects 400-500 participants from all over the world.
The extraction of fossil resources from the ground and their use in the energy and chemical sectors are the main contributors to man-made climate change, accounting for 90% of greenhouse gas emissions. While decarbonization is the silver bullet in the energy sector, the only option for the chemical and plastics sector is to switch the carbon source from fossil to renewable carbon: Using biomass, CO₂ and recycling is the way forward.
The RMC 2025 aims to provide answers to pressing questions from suppliers and brands, investors and policy makers: How can the chemical industry be defossilized and remain competitive? How can the demand for fossil-free plastics be met? How can sustainable carbon cycles be created? What role will biodegradability play in the circular economy?
To answer these questions, the conference will offer numerous expert discussions and exceptional networking opportunities – including an exhibition, poster session and workshops on the most pressing topics. There will also be another opportunity to vote for the “Renewable Material of the Year 2025” innovation award sponsored by Covestro (DE).

Overview of the conference topics

22 September: Defossilization of the chemical industry: This important topic area covers alternative naphtha, biorefineries, waste recovery, chemical recycling and carbon capture and utilization (CCU) – all solutions for both basic and fine chemicals.

September 23: Fossil-free plastics: Since more than 20 polymers from biomass, CO₂ and chemical recycling are already commercially available, this topic area presents solutions for all areas of application.

September 24: Concepts and strategies for sustainable carbon cycles and the role of biodegradation in the circular economy: What policy framework or market demand is needed for the transition to renewable carbon and sustainable carbon cycles? What are the latest technical and policy developments and new trends in biodegradation?
