Industry event for new impetus in filter media development

The two-day TEXTILE FILTER symposium will take place in Chemnitz on March 11 and 12, 2025. The conference will look at innovative, high-performance textile filter media for various applications and systems for air, gas, liquid and particle filtration against the backdrop of changing technology. The Saxon Textile Research Institute (STFI) is inviting experts to Chemnitz to intensify cooperation between research and development and industry and to provide new impetus for filter media design.
What filtration topics are the experts talking about?
In terms of sustainability, minimizing air and water pollution, reducing environmental and health impacts and conserving resources are among the ongoing trends in filter media development. These measures go hand in hand with increasing filter service life and maximizing economic efficiency. An important trend in filter media development is the use of bio-based materials that can be completely degraded in an environmentally friendly manner at the end of their useful life. The integration of nanotechnology enables the production of filter media with improved efficiency and lower permeability for ultra-fine particles. In addition, innovative developments are leading to self-cleaning filter media that significantly increase the service life and efficiency of filters. Another strong trend for the future is indoor filtration with its increased requirements. In addition to the development of sustainable filter media and special solutions for meltblown filter media, the symposium will focus on the simulation of filtration processes, such as digital twins, as well as the development of associated software tools. The focus on filtration applications will be on innovations in and of test methods as well as innovations in flue gas cleaning and suitable hollow fibers for dialysis. A special highlight on the agenda is an excursion to the STFI, where guests will gain an insight into the institute’s extensive nonwovens expertise.
How will the 17th TEXTILE FILTER symposium be organized?
Parallel to the symposium, there will once again be the opportunity to present products, services or the latest research and development results at an accompanying trade exhibition. An attractive, cultural supporting program at the 17th TEXTILE FILTER symposium will once again provide a platform for networking, making new contacts and discussing the latest developments in the filter industry. The participants’ evening will first take the conference guests to the smac State Archaeology Museum to visit the special exhibition SILBERGLANZ & KUMPELTOD. The dinner will take place in the Congress Hotel Chemnitz with a magnificent view of Chemnitz city center and the Erzgebirge mountains rising to the south.
