The Laboratory for Materials and Joining Technology (LWF) is a nationally and internationally recognized research institute with a focus on joining technology, in particular mechanical and thermal joining, bonding and hybrid joining. In addition, characteristic values are determined and simulated. The range of research and development work carried out by the LWF includes publicly funded basic and application-oriented research projects, bilateral industrial collaborations and contract work. Of particular importance is the training of the next generation of engineers and the transfer of knowledge to industry and science. As a partner to SMEs, large companies and funding organizations, we provide process-, material-specific and constructive research results in materials and joining technology for the economic development and production of resource-efficient lightweight structures in particular. In the long success story of the LWF, our results have found their way into numerous innovative product applications and have been awarded several national and international prizes.
