Light for innovation – as an independent, non-profit research institute for photonics and laser technology, the Laser Zentrum Hannover e.V. (LZH) stands for innovative research, development and consulting. The LZH was founded in 1986 with the aim of conducting interdisciplinary research and development in the field of laser technology, bringing together research and practice and training specialists close to industry.
The interdisciplinary collaboration between scientists and engineers enables innovative approaches in various areas: from component development for specific laser systems to process developments for laser applications, for example for medical technology or lightweight construction in the automotive sector. Around 200 people are currently employed at the LZH. The LZH receives its basic funding from the Lower Saxony Ministry of Economic Affairs, Transport, Building and Digitalization.
Our innovation fields stand for the future topics of photonics and laser technology. We identify and initiate trends in these areas and thus make a significant contribution to the further development of science, business and industry.
