Fiber-reinforced plastics/composites are now firmly established in many areas of application. The most important areas of application include mobility, but also construction and infrastructure. More than 2/3 of all materials produced in Europe are used in these segments. In addition to their high potential for lightweight construction, their high mechanical properties compared to other construction materials are the main reasons for their use.
In addition, there is the option of load-adapted design for individual applications. Composites also have enormous advantages in terms of sustainability. These are primarily due to the low energy requirements in the production of the base materials, but also because the materials can often be used virtually maintenance-free and have a particularly long service life.
