Construction materials made from renewable raw materials have a high potential for innovation and show concrete approaches for sustainable management, as successfully demonstrated in a development concept of the state of Lower Saxony.

To this end, the state of Lower Saxony supported a competence center that

• determined the need for action,
• Requirement profiles determined
• R&D competencies determined and
• makes information accessible to a wide range of interested parties.

The holistic view of all process levels in the sense of concurrent engineering is a particular focus here.

Tasks of the RIKO Competence Center:

• Targeted market transfer of previous and continuously updated results
• Support in the development of products and semi-finished products made from construction materials with renewable raw materials
• Development and maintenance of a central database that provides a comprehensive range of information for:
  • Companies
  • Research facilities
  • Promoters
  • Associations and
  • Media
• and at the same time enable the targeted bringing together and networking of potential partners
• Advice, support and guidance for project partners
