Company description:

The Institute of Lightweight Engineering and Polymer Technology (ILK) at Dresden University of Technology is the internationally recognized institute for research, development and student training for function-integrative lightweight system construction in multi-material design. Embedded in the business and science location of Dresden, which offers optimal conditions for innovative and future-oriented research and development, a team of 240 employees works across all sectors – for example for the aerospace industry, vehicle construction and mechanical and plant engineering – on extensive research and development tasks in the field of stress-optimized lightweight structures and systems. The latest concepts and processes and their linking to process chains pave the way from materials through design, simulation, production, prototype testing and quality assurance to economic and ecological implementation.
The ILK is managed by a four-member board: Prof. Dr.-Ing. habil. Maik Gude (Chair of Lightweight Design and Structural Assessment), Prof. Dr. rer. nat. Hubert Jäger (Chair of Lightweight Systems and Composite Structures), Prof. Dr.-Ing. Niels Modler (Chair of Functional Integrative Lightweight Design) and Prof. Dr.-Ing. habil. Prof. E.h. Dr. h.c. Werner Hufenbach (Senior Professorship).
