Fraunhofer IPA can draw on over 50 years of experience in the fields of production technology, automation and mechanical and plant engineering. The Lightweight Construction Technologies department focuses on industrial application and research in the field of design, processing and production technology of lightweight materials in the production engineering environment.
The development of machining technology for CFRP and other lightweight materials deals with the measurement and evaluation of machining quality, the development of new tools and the adaptation of extraction technology and cooling lubrication concepts.
The range of services in the field of structural lightweight construction and process monitoring extends from fibre composite-compatible design, functional joining, topology and structural optimization to the development of measuring and testing technologies and intelligent mechatronic systems for production processes.
To further develop the energy and resource efficiency of today’s production technology, the Fraunhofer IPA’s Lightweight Construction Technologies department offers innovative solutions to meet these challenges.
