Adaptronics opens up opportunities to provide lightweight structures with additional capabilities. For example, CFRP structures can be enabled to change their shape, actively reduce vibrations, reduce sound radiation from the vibrating structure or diagnose their own condition using materials and technologies from adaptronics.
