Company description:

With its work, the IPF bridges the gap between basic research and the application of polymer materials. In interdisciplinary cooperation, natural scientists and engineers develop scientific principles for the improvement or new development of materials and technologies in the field of polymers for special applications.
The research work includes synthesis, modification, characterization and testing of materials as well as technological studies on the processing of polymers. The work focuses on investigations into the influence of interfacial phenomena in multiphase systems, composites and thin films, the importance of interfaces in polymer processing and the targeted design and characterization of interfaces.
The work in the field of fiber composites is primarily aimed at:

  • Development of fiber composites with novel reinforcing fibers (e.g. alkali-resistant), natural fibers and hybrid yarns
  • Interface/interface design in fiber composites
  • Development of nanocomposites
  • Development of tailored fiber composite components (Tailored Fibre Placement)
