Company description:
Neue Materialien Fürth GmbH (NMF) is a non-university state research institution of the Free State of Bavaria with the aim of implementing new materials and manufacturing processes in industry-oriented solutions in close cooperation with universities, research institutions and industrial partners. One focus is the development of new methods, systems and materials for the production and processing of short, long and continuous fiber-reinforced plastics and hybrid material composites made of polymers and metals to improve properties, quality and cost-effectiveness.
The focus of development is on the targeted modification, optimization, production and analysis of fibre-reinforced thermoplastics and high-performance materials on an industrial scale. In addition to the design, construction, simulation and evaluation of new materials and processes, NMF offers a wealth of innovative plant and tool technologies as well as a comprehensive range of modern material and process analytics for individual development tasks in its laboratories and pilot plants. NMF provides support in all matters relating to material selection and component design, evaluates and optimizes processes and plant technology from individual tests to series production start-up and offers an individual range of services for sample and prototype production of innovative products and applications.
Thanks to its many years of methodological expertise, the skills of its technical chairs and its close links to the university research landscape, the NMF translates innovative development topics into novel solutions for industry. In addition to publicly funded joint projects, we offer bi- and multilateral contract research in direct cooperation with industrial companies from Germany and abroad. With R&D work lasting from one day to several years, we create the basis for everything from individual tests to cross-divisional networking along the entire value chain.
Our pilot plants include flexible systems for the production of semi-finished products and the further processing of almost all thermoplastic-based composite structures and materials. We have interval hot presses with direct melt plasticization, adaptive pressure control and inline thickness analysis for the production of continuous laminates up to 450°C at widths of up to 50 inches. Numerous features for pre- and post-processing, such as automatic release agent application, multi-stacking towers, assembly systems and much more round off the near-series development options. Injection molding machines and variothermal forming presses with various test and test specimen tools, integrated heat sources and fully automated handling systems are available for the precise further processing of semi-finished products. Our expertise extends along the entire process chain from material modification and compounding to production and further processing through to thermal and mechanical analysis. The digitally networked machines and tools enable the targeted evaluation and interpretation of production and quality parameters, thus ensuring a better understanding of the process. Our cooperation with Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg provides our customers, OEMs and suppliers, material and machine manufacturers, SMEs and large companies from all sectors with a comprehensive development portfolio from a single source.
